Every morning the past few weeks I turn on the radio only to hear how gas prices have dropped another 14 or 15 cents. Some places are seeing very low 3 dollar to high 2 dollar prices at the pump. Yet here in Chicago I still see $4.29 a gallon and $3.59 by my house.
Chicago always seems to be the first to get the high prices and last to get the reduced ones. WBBM broadcasts the “cheapest prices” as if any price they mention is cheap. I’d love to see these price drops everybody is talking about… If a Sheik farts in the Middle East gas prices jump 20 cents, funny how the oil reductions never hit the pump as fast.
In January the “experts” were saying we’d have $6.00 a gallon gasoline by July, now they are saying we’ll have gas prices in the mid $2.50 range by Thanksgiving. These experts must be weathermen considering their track record of accuracy.

Yeah thats strange. Over here in NY its 3.59 or so but then it was over 4 dollars for a while. One reason you don't see the gas stations lower there prices when the oil price drops is because they have already paid for the higher price. They need to wait until there next fill up. At least thats what I was told.
Michelle - Yeah thats what they say yet when oil prices go up the price instantly goes up at the pump so their reasons hold no water. They instantly profit from oil prices going up because they change the pump price right away but have to wait going the other way around.
I don't blame them considering the 18 to 28% take rate the Government profits off of each gallon but as usual we suffer.
Glad they were wrong on their $6.00 prediction. Just paid $3.35 a gallon this morning in Phoenix.
MO is always lower than Illinois just paid $3.35 for diesel on the way home from the Lake, diesel is higher than gas here because the state added tax to just diesel to gouge the truckers and railroads. Now I heard we may see $3.15 by the end of the week. Be safe out there Sam & Donna..
You know your right . Never thought about it the other way. Learn something new........
Hey, I'll be in hog heaven if it's down in the $2.xx range by September, means I can add more range to my trip :).
Price in NW PA is down to $3.49 today. I'll take any drop in price I can get and be glad of it :)
Last week I paid $3.33 at the casino but Chevron and Shell are still at $3.73. I am so tempted to buy a gl in a can and strain it to see how much gold is in there.
Gee Erik, I thought Mt. Vernon was the last place to find lower gas prices!! We are floating between $3.38 and $3.47, depending on which end of town that you are on. The Pilot off of 57 is usually the cheapest. Just in case you ever venture this way!!
Love Di ♥
kcgaz - They're always wrong and they get paid to forcast! Ack!
Sam and Donna - We can almost throw a rock from Chicago to the refinaries yet we pay such high prices, amazing but then it's Illinois, they TAX EVERYTHING until it pops! Our toll road just 10 years ago was 40 cents, now it's $3.60 and they are raising it again. Ugh.
Michelle - Yep, learn something new everyday and twice on Sunday! :)~
Big Matt - You and me both my friend!
Sunny - True that!
JoJo - $3.33, that would be a nice start. If they can get it back into the low 2 dollar range we could actually go on a trip this year!
Diana - We might be heading down that way in September!
Gas prices have dropped here in Tampa, but diesel never changes much.
