Final Trip – Geneseo Halloween

Here is the rig after many hours of cleaning and trying the following goof off, goo gone, vinegar, wd-40, lemon juice, lime juice, electric contact cleaner, windex, 409, pine-sol, bleach, soft scrub with bleach, soap and water, joy dishwashing liquid and finally magic eraser which got the trim clean as new but the only thing that seems to be working on the side stains is rain. Slowly but surely the stains are fading.

I took the pictures so you can’t tell the stains are still there. Smile  Here we are about to leave.

It was a great trip, lots of great kids came for candy and they loved the scary music we played as well.

We dropped off the rig at Scott’s RV for winterization and to finally fix the water pump. Have a great week everybody!

Da Bears, Porous Front Line, WTF?!?!?

How is it after so many years of a Bears offense incapable of protecting the QB we are still watching our QB getting slapped around by everybody on the other team??? I mean seriously, it’s like our front line just looks at the defenders take their turns at hitting Cutler.

The Panthers have won 1 game this year and we’re making them look like Super Bowl champs! GOOD GRIEF!!! 6 sacks at half time, if I was Cutler I would punch everybody on the front line in the face every time I got sacked. Disappointed smile

Even if they win how can we win the Super Bowl with a porous offensive line that is the worst at protecting the QB. We were complaining about this 6 years ago, no matter who the coordinator is we suffer the same lousy protection every year. Pathetic.

Sooner or later Cutler isn’t going to get up only to get smacked around again, I’m disgusted beyond belief at these guys…. Steaming mad

Walnut Tar Update

Well, we have tried things that should probably never be used on an RV and so far nada. Ronda is out buying magic erasers and WD-40 since I can’t find my can.

If that doesn’t work I give up, I will have thrown everything but the kitchen sink at it. I’ll try and come up with a list of things I tried later.

We’re getting the rig cleaned up for our last trip of the season…. more to come soon! Smile

Fail To Predict Earthquake & It’s Effect’s, Go To Jail!

Read the article here - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/italy/9626075/LAquila-earthquake-scientists-sentenced-to-six-years-in-jail.html

I think somebody forgot to release the news that predicting earthquakes became a reliable science. I had no idea, did you? Well, in Italy a group of 6 scientists and a former Government official are going to jail for quote, “an incomplete, inept, unsuitable and criminally mistaken” assessment of risks posed by the devastating L’Aquila earthquake that killed more than 300 people.

Who could predict 250 aftershocks let alone a massive earthquake?? Failing to asses something controllable like the levies in New Orleans is not the same thing as predicting an earthquake. It took 6 days before the earthquake happened after a small tremor, nobody knew an earthquake was going to hit. Not the Italians, not the European Union and not the USA, maybe each nation that monitors such things and tries to predict them should offer up the scientists so they can all take their fair share of the blame and jail time?

Granted, telling people to relax with a glass of wine (only one of the scientists said this) wasn’t exactly a great idea but seriously! Who honestly would have left if he said there was a chance of an earthquake? Hind sight is no way to live and the Italians have now set a precedent that is very dangerous and you can lay odds that with each tragedy going forwards, lawsuits will follow because scientists didn’t predict a tornado, or lightening or even another earthquake.

The deaths are tragic for sure but this sets a very dangerous precedent that will not bring back the dead and you can bet that scientists are going to refrain from saying anything going forward or they’ll play it so safe people can die from trying to escape the earthquake that doesn’t hit because the scientists are scared of going to jail if they don’t cry wolf. Then you know what, they’ll be sued for being wrong.

They have to pony up 7.8 million euros to be paid immediately, you think they take Visa? You think a scientist has 1.1 million euros? I don’t know what they’re smoking over there, maybe the same stuff the Norwegians were smoking when they handed a man the Nobel Peace prize for a speech…. Disappointed smile

Endeavor Has Been Moved To Storage

I drove to Blackhawk today to move the rig into the campground storage lot. The rig is FILTHY and we are taking it on the last trip of the year this coming Friday the 26th and coming back on Monday the 29th. We’ll be picking her up Thursday night and then Friday morning I’ll be scrubbing and detailing and power washing the entire rig. Hopefully we are able to get the walnut tar off of her. If not, well, I won’t be a happy camper. Disappointed smile

IMAG1100

I had to back the rig in on an angle to avoid scraping the rear. I’d like to talk to the people who thought having the Endeavor sit so low was a good idea. Ugh, I finally got her into her space, under yet another tree, this time an Oak tree. The huge Alfa 5th wheel next to us will provide shade for the tires almost all day. I’ll post again about this when we pick her up for the trip Thursday.

Have a great week everybody! Smile with tongue out

HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY RONDA!!

Today was Ronda’s 50th birthday. The girls at work threw her a party and called it BLACK FRIDAY! They all mourned the end of her 40’s… Smile

55371_4679123782484_1752495620_o 56385_4679126502552_1855335430_o

We went out for her birthday dinner and then get this, she wanted to go to a gun range and shoot a couple of hand guns! She looked over several 9mm’s and 22’s and decided on a revolver. The Ruger 357 P101 3 inch barrel. She also fired the Ruger 4 inch barrel and a Smith & Wesson 357 3 inch barrel. She thought she would like the S&W more because it was lighter, well lighter may be nice but they kick more! In the end she decided she likes the 3 inch Ruger.

She used .38 rounds which are the same diameter as .357’s but are shorter so less kick. She was asked not to shoot the PVC pipe that is used to hang the targets so she shot 2 of them dead center. They didn’t charge us for them because it was her birthday and we rented 3 guns.

Let me tell you, the 3inch Ruger is LOUD and powerful! For home defense it’s the perfect choice, it’s easy to turn off the safety and for home defense it will be loaded with .357’s. If a bad guy breaks in and tries bad things, he’ll wish he hadn’t.

Tomorrow night we are going to see Paranormal Activity 4, we were going to go last night but Ronda asked to wait until tonight. She is ADDICTED to this series! Smile

What A Great Weekend!

We had our Grandkids Mathew and Brian over Saturday night through Sunday morning. They went Trick or Treating and then went on the haunted hayride and haunted path. My cellphone camera doesn’t work worth a darn in the dark so I’m going to bring my T3i with from now on to have it on hand.

You saw the AC cover update, thank God that’s replaced! I am ordering the front one as well, hopefully that goes smoother!

There is one more weekend of camping at Blackhawk and then they move all of the rigs to higher ground in the campground for the winter. We will be taking ours out one more time to Geneseo on the 26th to the 29th and then returning to Blackhawk to store the RV.

The unknown right now is if I’ll be able to take the rig out during the winter months like I usually do every other week or so. The hill leading down to the campground is very steep and there is no snow removal so we’re taking a risk for sure.

We’ll see how it goes, you know I’ll post about that when the time comes! Winking smile

What A Shocker – WRONG *$&$^$%# COVER!!! - UPDATED

Leave it up to a dealer to have the right model number, serial number and STILL ORDER THE WRONG &*#&^$&#&^*#&^ COVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t get it, 100% of the time Illinois RV dealers get it wrong the first time… Steaming mad

EDIT: A few hours later…  I went back to the dealer with the wrong cover, let the parts man know exactly how pissed I was they had the wrong cover and the price increased by nearly $75.00. The parts man takes one look and says “That’s the wrong one”… Disappointed smile I looked at him and asked if you know this is the wrong one then why was it given to my wife?? He didn’t give it to her… so he asks me to come back while he looks around and 30 minutes later they find my cover.

It’s the right price and I believe the right cover. I bring it to the RV and the two rear screws don’t fit, at all so I’ll drill those later, there is an extra hole in the front middle that I’ll drill later into the sheet metal which I like because it will make it harder for the wind to rip it off.

You Know You’re Hard Core When You Camp During 26f With No Heat!!

That’s right, the wife and I are crazy, last night we decided not to turn on the heat because it was only supposed to get to the middle 30’s and we have handled 30’s before with no problem. Well, it got to 26f last night and that’s cold!

I woke the wife up at 8am and she said she isn’t moving until I turn the heat on! Disappointed smile  She is going to kill me when she sees I posted this picture! I turned the heat on and it’s a comfy 66f inside the rig now, we are NOT going another night with it off!

PICTURE REMOVED TO PROTECT…. ME! Smile with tongue out

We are celebrating Halloween up here at Blackhawk campground so the trick or treaters will be hitting us up around 4pm.

Here is Loki’s costume for tonight, the Viking Basenji/Shepard!! Thumbs up

IMAG1071

Thorin, the wife and kids will be coming this afternoon for pizza and a big bon fire, if it gets that cold I’ll have to really make it a big one!! This will likely be the last fire we have at Blackhawk until next season.

Our last trip will be to Geneseo on 10/26 for the yearly Halloween festivities and we hope to win first place again! It’s time to head out as soon as Ronda gets back to install the new AC shroud. I’ll be ordering the front one today to get delivered next weekend.

Have a great Saturday everybody!

Steve Jobs Interview 1983, Very Interesting

Many of you are like me, near 50 or older, 1983 seems like yesterday. For me it was my first year out of high school and computers were very new to us. I had been using one at my side job for a few years at the time for inventory, it took 10 minutes to load the inventory and we thought that was fast!

Here is an interview with Steve Jobs from 1983, you can download it and keep it which is what I did. It offers a very interesting viewpoint of the time. Check it out, I think you’ll enjoy it as much as I did. I know I have posted negatives about Steve Jobs and Apple, but this interview shows the mindset of Steve Jobs  at the time and no matter what your view, this is worth listening to.
