RV Update

We stopped by Collier RV yesterday to see how the warranty work is progressing. Sadly, in a good way, they have completed them, which means we will have to start paying for storage beginning Jan 1st, 2014… I think, there are two recalls they have to verify have been performed or aren’t needed which they will be doing tomorrow.

When we stepped into the rig that new smell was still there, I love that. Unfortunately because we knew the rig was going to be moved we closed the refrigerator so mold has started in some places so we have some cleaning to do, otherwise it was so nice to step inside our still new rig.

They forgot one item on our list but the service guy had an extra in stock so installed it while we were there. This was the AC vent in the bathroom, repair time, about 20 seconds, awesome. I find out tomorrow how much we owe for winterization and storage.

The 2014’s were there, our model is on sale right now for $20,000 more than we paid for ours! The major differences, the power center now has a door and the stereo now has Blu-Ray… I think we made out very very well considering.

3.5 months until we can bring the rig back to the campground. The campground should have a new entrance road and I’ll be having them lay down a lot more gravel so I can even the lot out and cover the area to the right of the rig that grass can’t grow on.

We can’t wait!! Here she is staring out with those alien eyes! Smile

A little trick that Kathy and I use is to prop the fridge and freezer doors open even when we bring the trailer to the dealers or close it up for the season. This stops the mold or mildew from forming and then we simply close the doors before hitting the road again. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It's about time.

Good point, and the fridge also has a built in prop that will keep the doors slightly opened and in place. The service guy showed me before we left. :)

Go figure!

I thought about the little gadget as I was reading your post. Glad they showed it to you. Sounds like things on the rig get done a lot faster and better than the HR.
Still haven't figured out what I am going to do next summer. Maybe just roam around cool places.

JO - I had a long talk with them about that. The entire support staff has been replaced with new people and they no longer work on a per ticket basis, now they are per hour and there is a customer survey attached to their pay structure.

Just roaming around cool places sounds great to me! :)

Do you have an ice maker? Before we started living in the Alfa full time, I would be sure all of the water was out of the ice maker when we shut down. I put twists of paper toweling into it for a few days. I also put a rollof toilet paper on the lowest surface of each compartment to wick up any moisture. Remove them after a couple of days. This plus the built in door lock prop kept it mold free.

We chose no ice maker but it does have the fittings. This is the first time we forgot to prepare the fridge... good ideas though thanks!
