Received A Letter From Our Dealer Changing Our Warranty

I received a letter from my dealer suggesting that they were changing warranty companies and more than one customer would be affected since it was addressed to RV Enthusiast, not me directly. I was to sign the included paperwork and send it back. This paperwork was missing a provision and the name of the warranty company they listed in this letter was not the name of the company in this new warranty contract. Also, the warranty purchase date was whited out and the purchase date was typed on top of the white out. No initials were put there to indicate who made the change.

While comparing coverage's I discovered several items that would not be covered under the new warranty that are covered under the current warranty provided by a company that I couldn’t find on the web, so I assume it’s the dealership trying to dump me off onto another company, which is fine since I would prefer to never go to this dealer again now anyway.

If I signed this new warranty contract I would lose coverage on our generator, leveling system and slide out. Since the coverage's didn’t match I wrote the owner of the dealership and told him we would not be signing this new warranty contract until it includes the same coverage’s we  currently have with the unknown warranty company listed in their letter.

The ownership of this rig has been a very trying experience and this new twist isn’t making it any better. I’m going to get all of the paperwork together and bring it to our lawyer this week so when I get a response from the dealer we can be prepared for the worst but of course we are hoping for the best.

I’m hoping the dealer fixes this contract with the correct coverage’s so we can sign and then the dealer can be free of us and us of them, which I think both parties would agree is what we both want desperately. Then I can get back to getting the leaks fixed that this same dealer was supposed to address while they had it in their shop.

RV Leak Update

We dropped off the RV at Collier RV Super Center this morning so hopefully they are able to figure out where the water is coming in from. While we were there we looked at several Class A Diesel rigs and really liked this 2005 Encore except for one thing, the toilet room was so tiny no normal sized man could use it! Everything else was awesome! They had it priced at $79,999 with 47,650 miles it looks like a good deal, but if you’re 6’ tall, the toilet room is useless. Too bad… There is a big RV show in Chicago next weekend so we’re going to check it out and who knows, maybe we’ll find a DP and trade up!

Doctor Visit After Fall Last Sunday

Sunday 1/2/11 I managed to fall and scrape my left leg real good. I’d post a picture but that would be disgusting. Sick smile  Being diabetic I take extreme measures to keep my feet safe and protected, so I thought. Sunday night my wife left the laundry basket at the bottom of the stairs for me to carry up. I turned the light off in the living room and forgot about the basket and managed to fall right over it, or more likely through it.

Since the basket is made from thick plastic it broke and took about 8.5 inches by 1 inch of skin below the shin and when I got up I stepped on a sharp piece of broken plastic and cut under my right foot as well. So I did a great job of putting both legs in danger.

I just got back from the doctor a few hours ago and she said the infection hasn’t spread and my foot looks good so I am on Cephalexin now for 10 days and this will hopefully heal quickly.

It makes walking to work really interesting…

Update, Found A Service Center For Leak Testing!

I called Collier RV Super Center which as it turns out is only a few miles away from the storage facility and made an appointment for this Saturday to test for the leaks and hopefully fix them.

Crossing my fingers, my toes, my eyes and what ever will cross. Laughing out loud

Spent The Day With The RV

I went up to the RV today to clean up after the mice, add peanut butter to the mouse traps and to drive the RV and fire up the generator and furnace so everything could get a work out and so I could see how things are holding up. The engine started no problem, the house batteries were below 50% which I expected. I then primed the genny and it started with no problem at all which was excellent. I took the rig on a 24 mile ride and had to actually take my coat off it got so warm inside!

I then parked it and also took a closer look at the paint work performed by the body shop and I noticed that the gold stripe isn’t even, either is the blue stripe. How did I miss this when I picked it up?? The bottom picture is the before, granted the previous body shop only clear coated over the gold and blue stripes, at least they were even.

Now, the stripes are new, they are painted BUT they are uneven. The previous shop owner called me a perfectionist, all I asked for is the job to be done correctly. So now I ask you, blogging world, open this picture, the before is the bottom and the after is the top, is the unevenness of the stripes acceptable? When you click the picture it will open as a larger picture, you can increase the size in IE by clicking the bottom right hand corner until it says 150%, that will show the differences much better. I sent the body shop an email about the leak and the stripes so we’ll see what they say.

I guess I can’t complain but this just seems to be the theme with this thing and I’m a bit disappointed considering the reputation of the body shop that did the work and I’m disappointed in myself for not catching this to begin with. From a distance it looks great, maybe I should just be happy with that… Sad smile

RV Still Leaking

Well the wife and I stopped by the RV on the way home today and checked out the rig after the rain we had. The passenger side carpet in front of the seat is frozen solid.

So….. the leak continues and only God knows where the hell it’s coming in from. I’m going back up there tomorrow to drive the rig and warm it up since it went from 50 to near 0 so fast. I’m at a loss at what to do from here, does anybody know of a good repair shop that deals with leaks??  Annoyed

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!!!

I created two versions and can’t decide which one to use so used both. I wanted something RV related but couldn’t make it festive. This was my first attempt at Adobe Photoshop CS4 and I just couldn’t use it like I wanted to so these will have to do.

Happy New year folks and may the next year bring you all happiness and safe travels.
