Geneseo Halloween Day 3 10/29 Continued…

Geneseo campground celebrated Halloween on Saturday 10/29, by about 3:00pm the birds had moved someplace else and we haven’t seen them since. We had a visit with a squirrel, I didn’t want to scare it away so I took a picture through the window. The picture on the left isn’t very clear because of the screen and glare but if you click on the picture you can see he’s looking right at me.                                                               Our graveyard before webbing.

Trick or treaters swapping candy, we bought too much so handed out a lot to each kid that came by. These boys came back for more and then started trading their candy, brought back memories of my childhood.

A family renting a cabin for the weekend decorated like a house, very cool!

Not many campers decorated but those that did, did a great job! This site got 1st place for a lighted display.

Geneseo Day 3 – THE BIRDS!!!

Woke up this morning to the sound of Alfred Hitchcock's.. 

THE BIRDS!!!!!!!!!

 

They’re everywhere! They started in the field to the East of us and migrated over to the trees in the campground. When you play this video turn up the volume so you can hear them. Perfect for later today if they stick around for the trick or treaters! 4:30pm every kid in the campground will be out getting candy and we are well prepared!

Geneseo Day 3 – The Birds!

For the Geneseo campground today is HALLOWEEN!! Well, time to get out and finish decorating, it rained last night so I had to re-pack everything. I forgot my box of scary electronic goodies so I’m a little bummed about that so we’re going to make do with what we do have here. Doesn’t look like many people are decorating their sites, we’ll see how it goes later today.

You may recognize this as the background for my blog. Veeery scary!

I tried taking a few shots with no flash on the Canon T3i. Our kitchen from the top of the dining room table, it acted like a tripod. I need to learn this camera!

Geneseo Day 2

It took longer to get here yesterday because of construction and I may have missed an exit taking me miles further than I needed to go.   So I didn’t take any pictures, I needed to get set up for work as soon as I got here. The owners of the RV park asked everybody to shut off the water last night because temps were supposed to get down to freezing. So, I filled up a bunch of 1 gallon water jugs and at 10pm turned off and disconnected the water supply.

This morning it’s 31f and frost everywhere, I checked the water connection and it was fine and the sun is pointing right at it so I re-hooked up and turned the water on. I then got Loki and we walked around and saw that not a single person shut their water off last night, all valves were up. I’m sure Kathy from the KAN-DO campground isn’t as shocked as I was. It’s supposed to get colder tonight so I wonder if they’ll walk around and tell people to turn the water off or not.

Today I have to work but I’m going to try and fit in decorating the site and taking pictures of the other sites as people get them completed. Tomorrow should be an interesting day with all the festivities planned.

Safe Travels Dennis & Carol!

I noticed that Dennis over at “Dennis & Carol's RV Adventures” sold their RV driving school and then announced they are retiring their blog.   I looked forward to their blog and I liked how Dennis was always working on getting his points up with his wife Carol.

I have been living my virtual retirement off of many of you retired full timers so when you stop blogging reality smacks me upside the head!

I’m going to miss their almost daily updates and pictures of their travels.

Fall House Cleaning – Kicked Our Butts!!!!!

Whew, the wife and I just completed deep cleaning the first floor today top to bottom at 10:30am. We started early yesterday!   We had the wife's family over for her birthday today after we all went to Nick’s Pizza and enjoyed yapping, messing with the nieces and nephews and then eating birthday cake!

These pictures will show the sheer amount of “stuff” we have that we are hoping to reduce. I’m amazed at how small the rooms look in these pictures!

Our living room is only 15x15 so not exactly huge, plus we don’t have a family room so you can see we have packed in a lot of stuff!

I will say however that our surround sound system will blow away the sound systems in most theaters. This system is capable of 125db (there is over 1600 watts in this system), U-571 during the depth charge scene will alter your heart beat and vision, no kidding it’s that intense. Can you see the hidden 80lb monster Klipsch center channel?   If we ever do full time RV this is one thing I will miss for sure but believe it or not, it would be worth it, I don’t even need surround sound in the RV, how shocking is that ‘eh? I have made progress over the years!

Our foyer has a monster treadmill that takes up a lot of space! This will be put on eBay and Cragslist very soon. Awesome coat rack though. The carpet right in front of the treadmill was disgustingly dirty, on top of that our new Bissell x2 Proheat kicked the bucket so I ended up doing a good portion of it by hand, not fun. It’s still some what dirty as you can see in this pic so I have a few more passes to make to get it to where I’m happy. I may remove the carpet and install Allure flooring this winter, we’ll see.

Here is a shot of our dining room, clearly we don’t have enough stuff! We are selling the Victrola and pump Organ but haven’t had any luck so if you know somebody who would like these items let me know!

We had this cabinet made by an Amish man, I don’t know what we’ll do with this, we had it made so we could hand it down to our kids, so we have some thinking to do on this one. Our nieces and nephews would love to own it someday I’m sure so we’ll hang onto it until one of them are ready. I’ll probably hold onto a few radios as well.

We are recuperating tonight watching the Bears beat Tampa and then it’s off to Geneseo this Thursday!

Last Outing Of The Year – Geneseo Campground

On 10/27/11 we will be heading up for our last outing of the year. We’re going to Geneseo, IL to the Geneseo campground for their Halloween extravaganza! If you’re in the area stop by and say hello or contact Shari and reserve a spot! Shari and Craig have the absolute cleanest RV park I have ever been to! We are praying for above 32f temperatures until November 3rd!!   I believe we’ll be in site # 3.
