Doctor Visit After Fall Last Sunday

Sunday 1/2/11 I managed to fall and scrape my left leg real good. I’d post a picture but that would be disgusting. Sick smile  Being diabetic I take extreme measures to keep my feet safe and protected, so I thought. Sunday night my wife left the laundry basket at the bottom of the stairs for me to carry up. I turned the light off in the living room and forgot about the basket and managed to fall right over it, or more likely through it.

Since the basket is made from thick plastic it broke and took about 8.5 inches by 1 inch of skin below the shin and when I got up I stepped on a sharp piece of broken plastic and cut under my right foot as well. So I did a great job of putting both legs in danger.

I just got back from the doctor a few hours ago and she said the infection hasn’t spread and my foot looks good so I am on Cephalexin now for 10 days and this will hopefully heal quickly.

It makes walking to work really interesting…

OMG so sorry to hear that you took a pretty bad fall. You did the right thing by having a doctor take a look at it. Being diabetic is such a challenge. Hopefully you'll heal up just fine.

Oh you poor dear! I'm sorry that I am just catching up now and hope that you are doing so much better. I imagine that your wife felt horrible about this, I know I would have! Please take good care and hopefully avoid any infection! Love Di ♥

Diana,

Yeah she felt bad but it wasn't her fault. She did the laundry, the least I could do was take it upstairs.

Typically I use my cell phone when walking around after turning off the lights but for some reason I didn't this time.

I'm going to have one heck of a scar when this thing finally heals but I'm not worried about a scar, just that it heals.

At this point it is still infected, it has this lovely purple color to it... ack. The drugs will hopefully take care of it.

Thank you Diana and have a very good week!
