Am I Alone?

Is it me or are others just not feeling the Holiday spirit this year? Sad smile  It’s almost as if this was the year people set out to make it a bad year for all. I’m going out for happy hour with the people I work with tomorrow night, maybe a night of letting loose will cheer me up…..

It may not be the best of years, but I think the holiday spirit is still there.

Happy hour with friends always has a way of lightening the mood.

Hope you have a good time!

It is not just you I have heard that from several people. I feel it somewhat myself too.

Hopefully going out with your co-workers for happy hour will get the holiday season rolling for you. The older I get, the more bah humbug I get. I'm not buying one present this year - cash for all the kids and grandchildren. It's difficult to get in a holiday mode for me in Florida - no snow, but that's just the way I like my life.

This holiday has been particularly exhausting so far. Finally got around to doing my Camper's christmas lights about 2 days ago.

There's only one way to chase the blahs away, well two, but one's better than the other.

Volunteer.

Go help in the soup kitchens at the local church, sign up to deliver Christmas meals to the elderly that live alone.

Do something amazing and surprising to make someone else's Christmas happy.

I did this last year to a friend of mine and his wife, it was their first Christmas together and they didn't have the money to do a Christmas Tree because things had been tight since his father had died just months before.

So, I Santaed it up by getting the key from his brother and then buying the biggest christmas tree I could find and all the trimmings and setting it up in their living room.

His wife, she's Japanese, love the tree, it was about 4 times her size.

That cheered them up alot.

Now, the other method of cheering one's self up involves buying a nice Punch cigar and finding a local cigar bar to relax at, smoke a big cigar, enjoy some scotch and tip heavily.

We had a good time, we went to Emmitts (no idea how to spell it) and drank some good Irish beer and ate great food.

It definately helped to get out a bit.

Thanks for the comments and nice words folks, that actually helped more. :)

Me too, but I get the holiday blues almost every year, lots of people do. I have no idea why, maybe because there aren't any kids around to take to Santa and buy for and tell stories to.....

Julia,

Do what I do, grab a family members kid and take them to see Santa, spoil them for the day and when they start getting all wound up, drop them back off at home!

Works for me! :)

I hope you have a very happy Merry Christmas!

Hi All,
My husband and I just bought out very first RV (really a puoll-behind 18' camper). We are new to Tucson and don't know many people, so we were wondering if anybody out there knew if any of the RV parks had a New Year's celebration event? That way we could take our first trip close to home (as recommended by the dealer) and bring in the New Year with good people. We are new at this, so any helpful hints anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. The Christmas spirit hasn't arrived here either.....hopefully putting up the tree will help. Best wishes to all.

Donna,

Thanks for the stopping by but the comments section of a blog will probably not help you get your question answered. :)

I'll try though, try going to http://tucson.com/, www.rv.net, http://www.rvthereyet.cc/.

Hopefully one of those places can be of help. RV.net is a forum for RV'er's and a great source for quick help.
